One of the questions I get asked quite often in business is how do you market yourself and your business. So today I’m going to talk to you about eight tips that you can do to market your business. Many of them are free.
Join a Networking Group
If you live in an area that has a Chamber ofCommerce, I recommend that you join and get to know the people in your local community. This is a great way to get your name and your business out there.
If for some reason you don’t have a local Chamber of Commerce, then how about joining a local networking group or an online networking group? There are so many out there nowadays, that you can get your name and your business out there. Some of them are free, some of them are paid.
So just do your research and see what works for you and what is going to work as far as your area business and their type of referrals that you’re looking for.
Promote on Social Media
Another great way to market your business is to promote it on social media. That’s how I got started years ago. We started out online promoting through Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Pinterest, and YouTube. Now we have Instagram, and so many more.
I recommend that you look at different social medias, and look at where your audience might be. For me, my top social media platforms are Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and I do a little bit of Twitter as well. LinkedIn is another one that I really enjoy. It’s a little bit more professional.
You just need to find out which one works for you. I recommend that you kind of sprinkle yourself a little bit everywhere, and then find the top two or three that work for you.
Write Blog Posts
If you have a website, blogging on a consistent basis is a great way to market yourself and your business. If you don’t have a website, how about you blog or write content for other people in your area of expertise?
There’s a website that you can find online that’s called Help a Reporter Out, and they are always looking for content from people. Sometimes you can even get paid for it. So check that out as well.
Have a Professional Looking Logo
Make sure that you have a professional looking logo. Nowadays, there’s no excuse for not having some type of a logo. You can even do it yourself. You can go on fiverr.com and you can pay somebody really inexpensive to do that.
Or you can make your own on Canva. Canva is a really well. You can use the free of Canva, or you can do the paid version. I do the paid version because I use a lot of Canva. But that’s another great way to promote yourself and look professional is to have a business logo.
Ask Friends and Family
How about asking your friends and family to help you out? Man, this should be the first place that you go to when you’re marketing yourself in business, right? Ask your friends and family to promote your business and what you do out to their network of people.
Offer to give them some sort of an incentive or discount if you want to. That’s whatever you like to do to get your name out there.
Write a Newsletter
In the olden days newsletters used to be in the mail. But now your newsletter can be online. That’s one way that we grew WINK actually rather large is we would send out a newsletter every week, and just let women know in the community what was going on with us in our organization.
Writing the newsletter can be really inexpensive. It’s also a great way to for you to collect leads. You want to get somebody’s email list.
Speak at Events
I know for some people public speaking is as kind of a scary thing. It was never my favorite thing to do to be honest with you.
But nowadays, you can even do public speaking online. You can get in front of large groups of people and do your public speaking online. So if that’s a little bit easier for you, or if you’re not afraid at all to do public speaking, then why not try that?
Find a Venture Partner
This is a great way for you to get yourself out there and tap into other people’s market. Look for other people that might have a similar base of contacts that you would want to tap into, reach out to them and ask if there something that you could do as far as a joint venture.
Basically if I promote your content and your website or you promote mine, and we start tapping into each other’s market, it’s a win win for both of us, right?
Those are my top eight tips for marketing yourself and your business. I would love to hear from you if there’s some other ones that maybe I left out. So drop a comment below. Have a fabulous day and be blessed.
